PKR demands Liberal International to remove party's name, logo from its website

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil has made an official request to Liberal International to take down the party's name and logo from their website.

He said that he had contacted Liberal International to correct the matter as PKR was never a party to the organisation.

"I have reached out to Liberal International to request that they correct their website by removing our name and logo. We have nothing to do with the organisation.

"I've been a part of the party since 2013, serving in various roles, and there has never been any discussion within our congress regarding our membership in this organisation.

"We never paid any membership fees to the organisation, thus we are not a member. Typically, when an organisation becomes a member of any group, they will be invited to attend annual general meetings, but this has not occurred in our case as well.

"Yes, we cannot deny that Liberal International had come to the country and that our president, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had attended their events upon invitation in the past, even receiving congratulatory messages from them.

"But this attendance was not as members and it does not imply that PKR is a member of that organisation," he told reporters after handing out Deepavali donations to Lembah Pantai Indian community at Sri Pantai People's Housing Project.

Yesterday, Fahmi dismissed claims made by irresponsible quarters linking the party with an Israeli organisation.

He stressed that the party remained strong in its support and solidarity to the people of Palestine.

Fahmi had earlier presented Deepavali donations to the Lembah Pantai Indian community at People's Housing Project (PPR) Sri Pantai.

He said the annual event aims to help alleviate the expenses of the Indian community in celebrating the festival.

"As for today and tomorrow, we are giving donations to over 800 families and we will increase it to 1000 families.

"This is one way for me to contribute to the community, especially those who are preparing to celebrate Deepavali this year," he said.

He also said that he would allocate a total of RM10,000 to both resident associations and the Lembah Pantai Rukun Tetangga Community (KRT) for their yearly activities as a means to help the community.

"We will discuss the details to ensure that this assistance can be swiftly distributed to the residents in this area."
