NSTP journo wins award at the landscape institute's gala night

KUALA LUMPUR: Harian Metro assistant features editor Hartini Mohd Nawi picked up an award at the Malaysian Landscape Architects Awards (MLAA) for the second time running tonight.

She received the special media category award at the Institute of Landscape Architects (ILAM) gala night for the second year in a row for an article on the art of landscaping.

Hartini said her 10 years of writing about landscaping has given her much satisfaction as she had been able to share tips and information with readers.

“There was a time when not many people could come up with ideas to decorate their gardens, but I believe that my reports have managed to increase knowledge about landscaping. It has been a privilege and joy to share my tips about something that is not brought to the fore much and is thus not widely known,” she said after the awards which were presented by ILAM president Associate Professor Dr Osman Mohd Tahir.

Present was Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Mantek.

Awards were presented to 67 people in conjunction with the World Landscape Architects Month which is celebrated every April.

Among the categories for which awards were presented were Professional Landscape Architect, Contractor, Government Research, Student, Producer and Landscape Supplier.

Osman said MLAA was started in 2007 to acknowledge the players and products of the landscape architecture industry in Malaysia.
