NSTP strikes big at Asian Media Awards 2018

NUSA DUA (BALI): The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) took home three awards at the Asian Media Awards 2018 ceremony here on Wednesday.

New Straits Times (NST) bagged the Silver Award for Newspaper Breaking News Article in the Best in Editorial Content category, for its report on an accident involving a logger, which eventually led to the discovery of environmental destruction.

Harian Metro meanwhile won the Bronze Award in the same category for its report on two Palestinians stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

NSTP pixman Osman Adnan won the Bronze Award for Sports Photography in the Best in Photojournalism category, for his photo of the Malaysian soccer team that beat Indonesia at the 2017 Sea Games. This is Osman's third victory at WAN-Ifra.

The Asian Media Awards, which honours prestigious excellence is organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-Ifra). It is held as part of the annual Publish Asia conference. The 2018 edition is being held for two days at the resort island here beginning today (Wednesday)

The awards were presented by WAN-Ifra Asia Pacific chairman Patrick Daniel dan chief operating officer Thomas Jacob. Also present were NSTP chief commercial officer Alfian Talib, and general manager, digital business and development Azizi Othman.

With the wins, NSTP emerged as Malaysia's media house that bagged the most awards at Asian Media Awards 2018. The Star media group won an award in the Best Editorial Content category.
