Giving back to the community

KUALA LUMPUR: Country Garden Pacific View Sdn Bhd (CGPV) has allocated RM100,000 this year to help the unfortunate community near Forest City in Johor.

The development company said the move is part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme which will be implemented by Harian Metro via the Titipan Kasih Harian Metro (TKHM) initiative.

CGPV corporate communication director Aeron Munajat said the sponsorship was part of its aspiration to share the spillover from the development of Forest City, with the community.

‘We are committed to assist the people in Gelang Patah area by helping to develop the local communities.

‘For example, our soon-to-be launched Forest City Golf Hotel would employ 100 per cent locals,’ she said, after presenting the mock cheque to NSTP special project executive editor Othman Mamat at a ceremony here on Tuesday.

Aeron added that Forest City has decided to assist 200 orphans and 50 poor families, who have been identified by local village committees and mosque officials near Tanjung Kupang in Gelang Patah.

‘As part of that, we will allocate RM2,000 for five selected mosques in the area to organise ‘moreh’ during Ramadan,’ she said.

Meanwhile, Othman said for this year’s TKHM, 200 orphans will be treated to a shopping trip at the nearby shopping mall to choose their desired ‘baju raya’.

‘We will give them RM150 to buy apparels and another RM100 as ‘duit raya’’.

TKHM was introduced in 2010 as a CSR programme aimed at helping the less fortunate ones.

Several staff from Harian Metro and Briged Sukarelawan NSTP-Media Prima would go to the ground and carry out activities such as visits to underprivileged families, gotong-royong to prepare food for berbuka puasa, raya shopping trip for orphans and poor children, cleaning, painting, and installing donated items to charity homes.
