Nurul Izzah tells Rafizi to accept decision on senior ministers

BUKIT MERTAJAM: PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has been told to accept the decision to appoint lawmakers from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) as senior ministers.

Nurul Izzah Anwar, who is also PKR vice-president, said the decision, as announced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, should be accepted and viewed in a positive light, so that attention can be given on running the best administration for the country.

The people need to be optimistic towards the new Pakatan Harapan government, she said.

“At the moment, Rafizi is not able to become a minister in cabinet, but as his friend, I appreciate his contributions to the party and country.

“As such, let us do something positively and overcome any challenges in the formation of the PH government,” she said when asked to comment on Rafizi’s unhappiness over the lineup, saying that PKR was not consulted on the matter.

Nurul Izzah, who is also Permatang Pauh member of parliament, said further comments on the matter will be made by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim upon his release from prison on Tuesday.

Yesterday, Rafizi had alleged that the appointment of PPBM, DAP and Amanah leaders as senior ministers was made without PKR's consultation.

Dr Mahathir had named DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as Finance Minister, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu as Defence Minister and PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Home Minister.

Dr Mahathir had explained that he not did announce a representative from PKR as the party president, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is already appointed the Deputy Prime Minister.
