Nurul Izzah visits dad in hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice president Nurul Izzah Anwar arrived at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital at 11.13am to visit her father, de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Prisons Department director-general Datuk Seri Zulkifli Omar is also scheduled to visit Anwar but has not been spotted.

It was reported yesterday that Anwar's younger brother Rusli Ibrahim had confirmed that the former deputy prime minister will be released tomorrow.

He was quoted as saying that the Pardons Board committee, chaired by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V will convene to discuss the matter tomorrow.

Nurul Izzah previously also confirmed via WhatsApp that her father is due to be released tomorrow.

Anwar was sentenced to five-years jail for sodomy in March 2014, after the Court of Appeal upheld his guilty verdict.

He was initially due to be released from prison in June.

However Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in a press conference last week said Sultan Muhammad V has consented to granting Anwar a full and immediate pardon.
