Miri hotel worker's hand crushed by meat processor in gruesome mishap

MIRI: A hotel worker lost his right hand when it was crushed by a meat processor here on Monday.

The victim, 29, was working in the hotel’s kitchen when his hand was accidentally pulled into the machine and was ground from the fingers to the wrist in the 9.50pm accident.

The worker was left stuck to the processor.

Miri zone Fire and Rescue Department chief Law Poh Kiong said a team was deployed to the hotel at Jalan Pos here after receiving a distress call on the mishap at 10.03pm.

"The team had to dismantle the machine to remove the victim’s hand.

"He was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment," Law said, adding that the victim is in stable condition.
