PH will bring change to administration of Islam in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The new Pakatan Harapan (PH) government will be focusing on several new aspects in its administration.

PH's win in the recent general election will bring about changes to the country's administration as well as the administration of Islam in the country, the Prime Minister said.

"Emphasis will be given by the PH government on Islamic teachings according to the Quran and true hadith," said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in his first blog posting today since taking oath of office as the country's seventh Prime Minister last week.

The posting, which is also his Ramadhan address, also saw the Prime Minister noting on how the transition of power from Barisan Nasional (BN) to PH had been smooth and without chaos.

“Alhamdulillah, the Muslims are given another opportunity to fast during the Ramadhan month in a peaceful and harmonious environment.

“This is even more important after the government transition in the 14th General Election (GE14) recently.

"All Malaysians realise their responsibility to ensure harmony and stability in the country," Dr Mahathir said, adding that the police and army also played their roles in maintaining safety and security.

Dr Mahathir also expressed hope that Muslims will not only benefit from the fasting month by performing ibadah such as Terawih prayers and studying the Quran but also reminded them to strive to understand the meaning of the Quran and not just memorising its verses.

Apart from that, Dr Mahathir called for support from the rakyat for the new government in the same way the rakyat had supported a change in government in the GE14.

“InsyaAllah in this glorious month of Ramadan, we will get guidance from Allah SWT so that all our actions are blessed.”

With today being the first day of the fasting month, Dr Mahathir extended his Ramadhan wishes to all Malaysian Muslims.
