Maintain peace and harmony after GE14 - Tengku Abdullah

KUANTAN: Pahang Regent Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has called for harmony and unity among the various races to be maintained.

He wants racial sentiments to be put aside besides stressing on the need to maintain harmony and practice mutual respect and tolerance.

“I hope that after the 14th General Election, no one will try to provoke a feeling of uneasiness by creating tension and animosity among the people that can affect the spirit of unity among the people.

“Don’t let there be acts of slander, insults and accusations as well as the spread of fake news, triggering hostility among the people that will be a loss to the future generation,” he said.

Tengku Abdullah said this at a breaking of fast ceremony and the handing out of contributions to the poor at Masjid Kampung Paya Bungor, here today, that was attended by 500 people.

Also present were Lepar assemblyman Abdul Rahim Muda, new Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Paya Besar Member of Parliament Mohd Shahar Abdullah and Kuantan district officer Datuk Zaliza Zulkipli.

“Let us not be too eager in the pursuit of a certain agenda at the expense of national unity and do not take shortcuts by politicising every aspect of life as this can lead to the destruction of the country, causing us to lose all that we have now,” he added.

Tengku Abdullah also presented donations to 150 people comprising the poor, disabled, single mothers, orphans and Muslim converts from the Orang Asli community. -- Bernama
