Make us federal government's dialogue partner, says Pas

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas has extended an offer to the federal government to be its dialogue partner to develop the country under the “taawun siyasi” (cooperation for the benefit of Islam) concept.

Its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, in a statement, said the sucess of Pakatan Harapan overthrowing Umno and Barisan Nasional has opened up a new era in the country’s politics.

He said the party will continue to work closely with the Pakatan Harapan federal government according to the concept of federalism which emphasised the importance of good relations between the central and state governments.

He added that the party was ready to be a constructive and effective opposition for the well-being and development of the nation as the party achieved success during the 14th General Election in two states, Terengganu and Kelantan.

“The party has also gained 90 assemblymen and 18 members parliament with the support of 2 million more voters and this is not a small number. So, the best move is to make Pas a dialogue partner at state and federal level.

“In line with Pas’ latest approach to politics, we will support the government’s policies that drive towards goodness and devotion to God.

“Pas with its Islamic policy will focus on the harmony of the races, strengthening the identity of Malaysians especially among Muslims.

“This check and balance political approach will help the government implement development,” he said, adding that having Pas as a dialogue partner will be a win-win situation for the people.

Tuan Ibrahim added that the public hoped all political parties would move forward to ensure that all pledges in the manifesto were implemented.
