MACHANG: Kelantan Umno will continue to act as a facilitator between the Pas-led state government and unity government at federal-level.

He said Kelantan Umno would also continue to hold discussions to ensure the state was not be left behind in terms of development and other aspects.

"As a party leader in Kelantan, I am sure the wellbeing of the people in the state will continue to be defended under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is assisted by two deputy prime ministers.

"Umno will not compromise when it comes to the people's wellbeing and I am confident the prime minister will do the same."

Jazlan, who is the former Machang member of parliament was speaking to reporters after launching a sepak takraw tournament at SK Machang 1 here today.

On another note, Jazlan said he would like to suggest the state government to withhold its plan to increase water tariffs in Kelantan.

"I know the water tariff adjustment needs to be done but if possible, I hope the state government could postpone it because many people are not happy about it.

"They want the state government to improve the water services first before implementing any adjustment to tariffs," said Jazlan.

On Jan 18, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said the water tariff adjustment which will come into force on Feb 1 will not burden the people.

Nassuruddin had said the federal government, through the relevant agencies, have conducted comprehensive research before deciding to announce the new tariffs.

He added the government has been studying this issue thoroughly before announcing it. He said it has been many years since there was a water tariff adjustment in the state.
