Girl killed after she threatened to expose ex-beau's vaping habit: Source

PORT DICKSON: A quarrel over her former boyfriend's habit of smoking electronic cigarettes or vape was believed to have led to Nur Alya Damia Hairi being strangled to death.

According to a source, the 19-year-old victim and the suspect, were believed to have separated several weeks ago.

They however decided to meet up on Friday night to talk about their relationship.

"After they started arguing in the car, the victim allegedly threatened the suspect that she will tell his parents about their relationship, as well as his vaping habit, which the parents did not know about.

"The suspect then became angry and lost control and began strangling the victim. He then realised that the victim was bleeding from her nose and had become unconscious.

"The suspect was believed to have panicked before pushing the victim out of the car. He then fled the scene and headed to his rented house nearby,” the source told NSTP here, today.

In the 10.30pm incident, the body of Nur Alya, a student at Port Dickson's Vocational College (KVPD), was found by passer-by along Lorong 4, Taman Permata, here.

Police managed to locate and detain the main suspect who is also a KVPD student within 15 minutes at his rented house at Taman PD Idaman, about one kilometer from where the victim’s body was found.

Port Dickson magistrate's Court allowed a seven day remand order against the suspect to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Initial investigation found that the victim who was renting a house in Taman Selasih was picked up by the suspect in his Proton Wira. Both then proceeded to a nearby location to have a discussion when things turned tragic.

Port Dickson deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Faisal Mohd Noor, said they are looking at all angles to complete their investigation into the case.
