Govt chief secretary urged to stop City Hall land sales

KUALA LUMPUR: Seputeh member of parliament Teresa Kok is urging the chief secretary to the government (KSN), Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, to intervene in the sale of 64 lots of land by City Hall (DBKL) between 2014 and 2018.

She said only the KSN had the authority to issue instructions to the Land Office to stop the deals.

“City Hall cannot do anything because they have no authority to make sure that the land sales are reviewed. It is better to have direct orders from KSN,” she told a press conference after a meeting between the mayor, Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz, and 10 MPs here today.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng had previously lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on City Hall’s sale of 171.7ha of land between 2014 and 2018.

“I was notified by the mayor that if KSN issued instructions to the land office not to approve any land sales, DBKL will terminate the sale and purchase letter of 10 lots of land and City Hall can get back the land,” he said.

Wangsa Maju MP Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew said she had requested City Hall to hand over the land sale documents.

“The mayor has agreed to consider the request and will give full cooperation regarding this matter,” she said.
