Irwan Serigar no longer Tabung Haji board member

KUALA LUMPUR: Tabung Haji (TH) today announced that former Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah is no longer one of its board members.

In a statement today, TH said the vacancy would be filled by a new Treasury representative, as enshrined in the Tabung Haji Act 1995.

The TH website also showed that the position had been vacant since May 14.

Mohd Irwan assumed the post in 2011 in his capacity as a Treasury representative.

However, on May 14, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, in a statement, said the government had decided that Mohd Irwan’s contract as Treasury secretary-general would be shortened to June 14, 2018.

Mohd Irwan’s contract as Treasury secretary-general was to run from March 7, 2017 to March 6, 2019,

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) had previously announced that Mohd Irwan was no longer one of its board of directors, effective May 14, 2018.
