SEREMBAN: Sixty residents of Kampung Serampang Indah, Jempol which was earlier known as Gatco Estate today handed over a memorandum to Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun to resolve their problem.
The memorandum was received by the MB’s private secretary, Sharulfaizal Tahar at 3.40pm at Wisma Negeri here.
Gatco Settlers Action Committee secretary John Cantius Francis who headed the group said the memorandum was handed over as the land ownership case in Gatco Estate had protracted for almost 40 years.
“The promises of the previous government were just empty promises and I hope the new government will look into the matter,” he told reporters here today.
The Gatco Estate issue began when settlers were unhappy with the sales of the estate and claimed there was misappropriation in the sales of land to Thamarai Holdings Sdn Bhd in 2007 as the company only paid RM16 million when the market price was about RM500 million. — BERNAMA
