Musa currently seeking medical treatment, denies leaving the country illegally

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has denied leaving the country illegally.

The Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman, said he had never travelled illegally and that his travels had always been via proper immigration channels.

This was relayed to the media through his legal counsel Zahir Shah, who issued a statement in reference to today's NST article titled “Trouble for Musa, Jamal if they left the country via illegal routes: Immigration DG”.

Zahir, in a statement, said Musa is currently seeking a long overdue medical treatment which was strongly advised by his personal physicians.

"Tan Sri Musa will be back as soon as his medical treatment is complete and his physicians are satisfied with his overall health condition.

"Tan Sri Musa reiterates that he had always been willing to give his full cooperation and will continue to do so in assisting the authorities provided it is carried out fairly and in earnest adherence to the rule of law," said Zahir.

He, however, did not mention the current whereabouts of Musa.

Recently, a man resembling Musa was said to have been spotted at the St Pancras railway station in London. A photo and video of the man went viral, creating buzz among netizens that Musa has supposedly left the country to avoid the authorities.

Sabah police have been on the lookout for Musa to have his statement recorded. This was to assist investigation into an alleged criminal intimidation against Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Juhar lodged a police report against Musa alleging that a threat had been made in regards to his swearing-in as the chief minister on May 10.
