Claims that Zambry still living in Perak MB's residence 'absolutely untrue'

IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu has shot down claims that the former MB Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir is still living in the MB’s official residence in Jalan Raja Dihilir.

Faizal clarified that Zamby had already vacated ther premises.

“Information I received said the former MB has already fully moved out of the residence.

“I have yet to move in because there are some renovations and plumbing work that need to be completed.

“As such, the claims on social media (that Zambry is still living in the residence) are absolutely untrue and I hope they are put to rest,” he said.

Recently, a Facebook page by the name of Mariam Mokhtar Admrl-Gen had claimed that Zambry had yet to vacate the premises despite no longer being the Menteri Besar.

The person also uploaded a three-minute long YouTube clip in which it was claimed that one day was enough time to enable Zambry to move out.

The claim was earlier rejected by Umno liaison board deputy chairman, Datuk Saarani Mohamad, who clarified that Zambry had actually vacated the premises even earlier than required.

“Zambry took about 10 days to vacate the house as he needed to move out personal items.

“He had lived in the house for eight years; it would be illogical to expect him to move out all items in a day,” he said in a statement.

Saarani said, when Barisan Nasional (BN) took over the Perak administration in 2009, the same grace period was granted to the former MB, Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin.

“For your information, the previous BN administration also gave Datuk Seri Nizar three months to vacate the residence and he used the time fully,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zambry, in a Twitter posting on his account @ZambryOfficial, urged for those responsible to stop spreading untruths.

“In this blessed month (of Ramadan), we should steer clear of hate, enmity and slander. To those who are spreading lies by claiming that I am still living in the MB’s residence, enough already with spreading hate and lies during Ramadan,” he said.
