Diesel tanker crashes into Kuala Pilah ravine

KUALA PILAH: A tanker ferrying 16,000 litres of diesel plunged into a ravine after colliding with a car at Km 7, Jalan Kuala Pilah-Batu Kikir near Pelangai Hilir village here today.

The incident that happened at about 7.40am was believed to have occurred when the tanker travelling from Kuala Pilah lost control before colliding into a Proton Saga coming from Batu Kikir.

Both drivers sustained light injuries and were sent to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital (HTAN) here for further treatment.

Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department chief Eva Saifun Kamuni said after his office received an emergency call alerting them to the accident at 7.46am, a team was sent to the scene immediately.

"Upon arriving at the site, we freed the tanker driver who was trapped in the driver's cabin of the tanker which had plunged into the three-metre deep ravine.

"The accident resulted in some spilt diesel, which flowed into a nearby river.

“We are still monitoring the situation for further action," he said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Pilah District police chief, Superintendent Haslah Bachok, said he was still investigating the cause of the incident.
