Boy, 16, says he wasn't strong enough to rescue trapped passengers in Kuala Krai crash

KUALA KRAI: "I tried to save my parents, who were pinned under their front seats, but I wasn't strong enough," said Tuan Muhammad Adam Ashraf Tuan Arzue, 16, the only survivor of the Kuala Krai crash that killed four people.

He said they were returning home after visiting a relative when the crash happened.

"My parents, my grandmother, Samsiah Man, 60, and I went to Rantau Panjang to visit our relative.

"I was sitting at the back with my grandmother, while my mother Noor Hayati Harun, 35, was in front and my father, Tuan Arzue Raja Daud, 53, was driving.

"I was sleeping, but woke up when I heard a loud crash. I felt pain on my head and chin.

"I was dizzy, but could see that my grandmothers and parents were motionless.

"I tried to crawl out of the vehicle and rescue them, but I couldn't," said the Year 4 student at Kuala Krai Hospital's mortuary.

Adam's eldest brother, Tuan Aniq Ashraf, 28, who accompanied him, said their mother died in the crash.

"My grandmother died about 1.50am at the hospital.

"My father and has been transferred to Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian. He is in a coma."

Aniq said the bodies would be buried at the Kampung Paloh cemetery.
