KUALA TERENGGANU: A boy is in danger of losing his right leg after it was crushed in an accident with a lorry, laden with sand, at Jalan Banggol Cempedak, Kepong, here today.
The victim, Mohd Naufal Yazid Mohd Salleh, 8, was said to be riding his bicycle alone near the stretch around 12.30pm.
He was crossing the road when he ended up colliding with the lorry, coming from Serada area.
"The impact threw the boy off his bicycle and he was then run over by the lorry," said a source.
Sustaining serious injuries to his right leg, passers-by rushed Naufal to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital.
At Press time, he is still at the hospital receiving treatment.
Kuala Terengganu deputy police chief Superintendant Suffian Sulaiman confirmed the incident.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
