KUALA LUMPUR: A video capturing a man's selfless act in heavy traffic to clear the way for a fire truck during an emergency has gone viral on social media.
Posted on TikTok by @eklinamit, who is a firefighter, the video showcases a motorcyclist in Banting, Selangor, taking on the role of an impromptu traffic police officer for a few crucial minutes to manage the traffic.
His quick thinking at ensuring the fire truck could swiftly navigate through the congested road during an emergency, earned him praise from firefighters and the public alike.
"You deserve commendation and applause from all Malaysians. Thank you, and it's a tribute to us," the user wrote.
In the video, the rider energetically waves his hands to vehicles on both lanes, directing them to make way for the approaching fire truck.
Not only did he help clear the path, but the thoughtful rider also ensured enough room for the fire truck to pass, despite the narrow road with trucks and buses on both lanes.
Several social media users commended such a kind act, and others shared their experiences in emergencies. They believe such courageous acts were rare, as not everyone would be willing to make such a sacrifice.
