KLCC to proceed with extension projects

KUALA LUMPUR: KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd will carry on with the development of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) surrounding areas as the current property market condition will not affect the company’s projects, said group chief executive officer Datuk Hashim Wahir.

Hashim, who attended the Council of Eminent Persons’ briefing this morning, said that the KLCC extension projects were categorised as medium-term development.

“The council wants to know about the development around the KLCC area, the status (of the projects) and they are very concern about the supply of offices and commercial spaces in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

“There are tenders that have been awarded and those that have not, so basically, we have to go to the Board (of Directors) to make a very informed decision that affects the commercial aspect,” he added.

Hashim explained that the company would look further into the commercial viability and market situation and assured that the company was mindful of the market scenario.

“The current occupancy rate of our offices are hundred per cent and we are also responsible to ensure that KLCC is developed,” he said, adding that the extension would only be completed in 2020 or 2021. — BERNAMA
