No raid, just a check, says MACC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) denied it conducted a raid on the house said to be linked to businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low.

Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Azam Baki said the commission only sent a team to conduct checks on the house.

"We did go to the house, but it was not a raid, it was just a check.

"Why would we (MACC) raid when Jho Low is not there," he said when contacted, here, today.

Azam added that nothing was seized from the apartment located along Jalan Kia Peng, here.

"The report by a local media on the apartment being raided is not accurate," he said.

It was earlier reported that the MACC raided the apartment believed to have acted as a 'safe house' linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
