Jamal on his way home, Netizens unleash funny side

KUALA LUMPUR: Politician turned fugitive from law, one thing that stays consistent is the interest and attention paid to Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.

From the days of him protesting outside the Selangor state secretariat building over issues ranging from water disruptions to illegal massage parlours, he has attracted various comments, either angry ones or funny quips from folks on social media.

While he has been on the run since end May, Jamal is finally on his way back to the country after being arrested by Indonesian police in Jakarta.

NST reported earlier that Jamal is expected to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on board Flight MH710 at 2pm.

Twitter users did not waste time weighing in on this latest update regarding Jamal who was said to have escaped to Indonesia using 'rat lanes' after he failed to complete his bail process at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital on May 25.

"Make sure jaga all the exits kat airport la, satgi terlepaih lagi...Meluat sgt dok dengaq cerita, kasi tangkap ja la (Make sure to watch all the exits at the airport, he might escape again, hate listening to these stories, just arrest him)," said user @norfatin_azman.

User @Asdin_ said, "Does he request for a red carpet at the airport...??? (sic)."

"Welcome home, sayang," said user @rabbwills.

"Semoga selamat sampai ke kampung halaman (may you arrive safely at your hometown)," said @FauzanKA.

Another user @Raja_Rajan said, "Hidup ketua bahagian! (long live the division chief).

"Pegi la sambut bawak bendera Malaysia ke merah ke apa patut. Akak mahkamah semalam mana? Hero nak balik dah ni kak (Welcome him with the Malaysian flag or the 'red' or whatever is necessary. Where is the sister from the court yesterday? Your hero is coming home)," said @mrhan_mrhan.

'Red' here is possibly in reference to Jamal being a leader of the Red Shirts group while the 'sister from the court' most likely refers to actress Ellie Suriaty who was at the Kuala Lumpur court complex yesterday to show support for former Premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
