Penang DCM I in stable condition

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman has been placed under observation after complaining of chest pain earlier today.

He was on his way to a function in Kepala Batas about noon when he started feeling unwell.

According to his aide, Muhasdey Muhamad, Zakiyuddin immediately asked his driver to send him to a private hospital in Bandar Perda for treatment.

"He was then referred to the Penang Hospital for further observation.

"Doctors, who attended to him, said he was in a stable condition," he said.

Zakiyuddin, 60, won the Pinang Tunggal state seat, defeating Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Roslan Saidin, in the recent 14th General Election.

He was subsequently named the Deputy Chief Minister I.

He also holds the state Islamic Affairs, Industrial Development and Community Relations portfolio.
