Terengganu girl's arm severed after shirt gets caught in motorcycle wheel [NSTTV]

MARANG: A 7-year-old girl's left arm was severed when her clothes became entangled in the wheel of a moving motorcycle.

In the 9.30pm incident on Thursday at Kampung Binjai Bongkok here, the victim was riding pillion on the motorcycle while wearing an over-sized shirt, which eventually got caught in the wheel.

A source said the incident resulted in her hand being pulled into the wheel's rim, before she fell off the motorcycle she was riding with a family member.

The motorcycle was still moving, which caused her left arm to be severed.

Despite the horrific accident, the child appeared calm as she was seen sitting at the location of the incident, waiting for help to arrive, in a photo that has since gone viral on social media.

The girl was then rushed to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu by her family for treatment.

A source from the family confirmed that following surgery that ended at 6am today, the child's left arm could not be reattached.

Marang district police chief Dep Superintendent Suhaimi Ali, when contacted, said no report has been received over the incident.
