4 killed, 1 badly hurt in drunk driving accident in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: Four youths were killed and one injured when their car – whose driver is believed to have been drunk – skidded to the side of the road and smashed into a tree at Persiaran Setia Alam here, this morning.

The dead were identified as N Zed Hezron, 18; M Sashwin, 18; M Kavineshan, 19; and the driver, K Gopalakrishnan, 20.

All four were killed at the scene in the 1.14am accident.

The fifth occupant of the Daihatsu sedan (which was heading from the toll plaza to Jalan Meru), M Roshan, 19, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang.

It is learnt that the five youth included two siblings and their cousin.

According to the Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharuddin Mat Taib, rescuers had to extricate the victims from the mangled wreckage.

The four bodies were transported to the Shah Alam, Selangor Hospital (HSAS) for post-mortems.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, added Baharuddin.
