Missing Hong Kong participant of PD International Triathlon found drowned

PORT DICKSON: A Hong Kong man who went missing while competing in the Port Dickson International Triathlon 2018 yesterday was found drowned this morning.

A group of fishermen found the body of Yuen Chi Yuen, 42, near Pulau Karang, about 1 nautical mile from the beach at 7.57am today.

State Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation team was deployed to the scene after it received information from the fishermen.

“The body of the victim was later transported to the Port Dickson Hospital here,” he said, adding that the SAR mission was called off at about 9am.

Chi Yuen, also known as Jeffrey, is the second person to have drowned in the competition.

Tharm Wai Weng, 38, from Penang, drowned after swimming 750 metres in the 8am incident.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital yesterday.
