Over 300,000 foreigners living legally in Malaysia: Home Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry has recorded 269,586 permanent residents and 33,668 temporary residents in Malaysia as of June 30 this year.

Together, they make up a total of 303,274 foreigners legally residing in Malaysia.

The largest group of red IC (PR) holders are in Sabah (75,440), Kuala Lumpur (44,995), Selangor (44,288) and Johor (38,239).

On the other hand, Selangor has the highest number of green IC (temporary resident) holders at 21,140, followed by Sabah (2,417), Kelantan (1,878) and Johor (1,709).

Earlier in Parliament today, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng had asked the Home Minister how many MyPR (red IC) and MyKas (green IC) holders there were in the country.
