Najib urges government to continue with projects which will benefit the people

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has been urged to proceed with projects which will benefit people greatly and cancel those are not.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak citing the MRT3 project as an example, said the present government cannot cancel the projects just because it was undertaken by the previous government.

"Anything that is good by the previous government, you should continue.

"Anything that is not good, you can discontinue”, said the former Prime Minister.

He said the important thing is to make the projects better and not just merely cancel it.

"You can cancel projects, but are you doing it for right reason ?

“Are you doing it for the people of Malaysia, that is the question we must ask.

"The government should not blame the previous government, they must do even better, so that Malaysians who voted them in deserve what they had asked for," he said.

The Pekan Member of Parliament was speaking during his birthday celebration, hosted by his family and friends, at his residence in Jalan Langgak Duta, here, tonight.

Present was Najib's mother Tun Rahah Mohamad Noah, wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, his siblings and children.

Also in attendance were families of passengers and crew of flight MH17.

Najib in his speech also called on Malaysians not to accept less of what have been promised to them.

"Malaysians must demand on what are rightfully theirs, do not get swayed by figures that are being manipulated so that they (the government) are not obliged to fulfil their promises.

"May 9 is still fresh in mind and 100 days is coming soon. How many promises had been fulfilled," he asked.

He said during his tenure as the country's prime minister, he made promises that he and the government could fulfil to Malaysians.

"I do not want to be accused of lying and I do not want to face Allah while I failed to fulfil promises."

On his birthday celebration, Najib thanked his family and friends for organising it.

"I, Rosmah and the family would like to thank the guests who attended this celebration.

"Some of the guests used their own expenses as well as made contribution for this. I really appreciate your kind gesture."

Prior to the celebration Maghrib and Isyak prayers as well as Yasin recital and solat hajat, were held.
