MCMC begins probe into leaked classified govt documents, says Ali Hamsa

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has started a probe into the leakage of confidential government documents.

This was confirmed by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa on his Twitter account.

“Aside from police report, all secretaries-general and heads of service have been instructed to ensure that classified documents will not be compromised,” he said.

The Twitter posting was believed to have been made following reports of a classified list on changes to several government agencies as well as government-linked companies (GLCs).

A newsportal reported that three GLCs; Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Petronas and Permodalan Nasional Bhd will be placed under the Prime Minister’s Department.

The same list is also reported to have placed Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) under several ministries including its business arm which will be parked under the Economic Affairs Ministry; Mara’s Giatmara under the Entrepreneur Development Ministry and its education division under the Education Ministry.

At press time, no ministries have confirmed the validity of the list.
