43 Turkish students participate in UniSZA English programme

KUALA NERUS: Forty-three students from 35 Turkish universities have registered with an English Immersion Mobility (EIMP) programme at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), here.

UniSZA vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Ahmad Zubaidi A. Latif said the first batch of 10 students arrived on July 24, the second batch of 20 arrived on July 26, and the third batch of 13 arrived today.

He said the EIMP was organised by the university’s student affairs division and English Language faculty, and the government of Turkey.

He said the programme, which would cost between RM100,000 and RM150,000, would be paid for by the Turkish government.

“This is the third EIMP held at UniSZA. The first, held several years ago, involved Chinese, Taiwanese and Khazakh students.”

Dr Zubaidi said the students would also be introduced to Terengganu culture.

“They will be visiting Kampung Mangkuk in Setiu and Tasik Kenyir in Hulu Terengganu,” he said.
