Leave it to the police, says Kulasegaran

KUALA LUMPUR: Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran will leave it to the respective authorities following the police reports lodged against him by Umno Youth.

The reports were on Kulasegaran's alleged remark that Malays in the country were "pendatang", while the Indians were the original inhabitants of Tanah Melayu, now Malaysia.

Kulasegaran, who is also DAP National vice-chairman, however refused to comment further on calls by Umno Youth for him to resign.

"Let the investigation take place. At the moment, no comment.

"I should not comment further, otherwise something else will happen," he told reporters at the Parliament's lobby today.

Umno Youth has called for transparent investigation to be conducted against the Ipoh Barat MP.

While Kulasegaran had issued an apology over the remark he made during a speech in Nilai last week, Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that an apology alone was not enough, calling for the minister to resign.

The apology from Kulasegaran yesterday came one day after he denied labelling the Malays using the term.
