Right-lane closure along Persiaran Kewajipan

SUBANG JAYA: In order to ease the traffic congestion at Persiaran Kewajipan, the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) will close the right-lane turn heading towards the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) interchange near Summit USJ mall beginning 12am on Aug 18.

MPSJ Corporate Communication deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said the decision was made to ease the traffic flow.

“Motorists from SS13 can no longer make a right turn to go to Shah Alam and Klang.

“Motorists have to make a U-turn at Kesas in order to go to Klang,” he said adding that the U-turn is 500 meters from the Persiaran Kewajipan to Kesas interchange.

“Same goes for the traffic from USJ2 heading toward KL, motorists need to make a U-turn at Kesas,” Azfarizal said.

The closure of the right-lane turn means that there is no longer a need for the traffic light at the interchange as USJ-bound traffic can now flow freely, Azfarizal informed.

“The closure of the right turn lane was necessary to ease traffic congestion due to the traffic light junction near a mall at USJ1," he said, adding that traffic there was also congested even after rush hour.

He said the closure of the junction and traffic lights would be able to reduce the waiting time for motorists.

“The council will be putting up signboards, notices and also concrete barriers around the affected location,” he said.
