MyRumah: Three mistakes when renovating house for investment

JOHOR BARU: Home owners should avoid three mistakes while renovating homes for investment.

This is to ensure their houses can be easily rented as well generate reasonable returns.

Mamy Home founder Amin Yusoff said the three mistakes made by home owners were causing them to bear the high costs besides not being able to rent or sell their homes quickly.

“Firstly, the home owners spent more money that they were supposed to when renovating their home for investment purposes.

“Unlike houses for own occupancy, homes for investment need to be renovated according to the appropriate market segments.

“Secondly, renovation is often made according to the home owner’s needs and preferences, causing those who wanted to buy or rent seeking to change the design which eventually burdened the home owners.

“Thirdly, last minute change of mind which subsequently causing the home owners to spend more than the initial plan.

“If the home owners spend so much, the investment returns will take a long time. Therefore, the home owners must focus on minimising the costs, but at the same time bring a high impact with the renovation,” he said while delivering his talk on topic ‘House Renovation for Investment at the second day of property exhibition MyRumah Johor Bahru at KomtarJBCC here.

Amin said he hoped that the Malaysians will take heed of the common mistakes and understand that design is way of live and carry out renovation that could improve the quality of their lives.
