Sabah man hurls lance at wife during heated argument, injuring her leg

KINABATANGAN: A man in a heated argument with his wife hurled a lance used for harvesting palm oil at her, striking her in the calf.

In the incident at 1pm on Monday at Kampung Penangah in Tongod, near here, the 36-year-old woman and her 42-year-old husband were on their way home from a palm oil plantation.

The couple got into an argument after the wife advised her husband to stop consuming alcoholic drinks.

“The woman then asked the man to move palm oil across a river. However, the man suddenly threw a lance at her and injured her right calf.

“He ran away and disappeared after the incident.

“The woman received treatment at the Telupid health clinic on the same day, before lodging a police report at the Tongod police station,” district police chief Superintendent A Sahak Rahmat told NSTP.

He said the duo has been married for 22 years and have six children.

“The victim also claimed that she is often beaten whenever they have arguments.

“The lance has been confiscated and the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code and 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994,” A Sahak said, adding that police are on the trail of the missing man.
