Man goes on high speed motorcycle chase to stop runaway wife

SEREMBAN: Like a scene out of a movie, a man was willing to risk his life when he attempted to stop his wife from running away with another man.

In pursuit, the husband got on his motorcycle and ended up injured after almost getting hit by the car his wife and her male companion were fleeing in.

In the 9.30pm incident last Thursday, the 34-year-old victim suffered injuries to his head, legs, arms, and body before being assisted by bystanders and taken to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ) for treatment.

He claimed that his 29-year-old Vietnamese wife left their home two weeks ago informing him that she intended to visit her sister. However, upon investigation, it was discovered that she was in Melaka with another man.

"Then, on Oct 21, my wife came to our salon, and when I checked her phone, I discovered conversations with the said man in a messaging app.

"I suspected she had a relationship with that man. After learning this, I invited her to discuss our divorce and resolve all related documents, including visas and matters related to our salon," he said when interviewed at the state legislative assembly office in Seremban Jaya.

The victim also claimed that the man known as David came to his salon on the same day to discuss the matter.

"However, I was somewhat surprised when he told me that we should resolve this using gangsters or the police. At that time, he indeed contacted gangsters to threaten me," he said.

Recounting the incident on Thursday, he said his wife contacted him to meet at a salon in Taman Thivy Jaya near Rasah to discuss their divorce. He then rushed to the location with a friend.

Upon arrival, he found his wife inside a car while the man in question was outside the car. Upon noticing their arrival, they suddenly accelerated the car and nearly hit his friend.

He then pursued them to get them to stop for a discussion, which led to a chase near the traffic lights close to the Port Dickson North Toll Plaza, covering a distance of almost 9 kilometres, before the car attempted to run him over.

"I approached the car, but they reversed the car, attempting to hit me, causing me to jump onto the car before falling on the road shortly afterward," he said.

He said throughout their marriage, he had never laid a hand on his children or wife, but he was distressed that his wife was influenced by the man she had only just known.

Meanwhile, Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Arifai Tarawe, confirmed that they had received a report regarding the incident.

"The case is being investigated under Section 498 of the Penal Code for the offence of enticing a married woman with malicious intent.

"Any members of the public with information about this incident can contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Muhammad Faizal, at 013-3611854 or the Seremban District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 06-6033222."
