KUANTAN: An auxiliary policeman was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a car which was making an illegal U-turn at Jalan Sungai Karang here.
In the 9.30pm incident last night, the victim, 18-year-old Muhammad Yusri Izham Mohd Nasri from Felda Jengka 20 in Maran, was killed at the scene due to head injuries.
Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said the car driver did not sustain any injuries.
“An initial investigation showed that the accident happened when the car, which was travelling to Balok, stopped to make the U-turn.
“At the same time, the victim who came from the opposite direction did not manage to brake in time and hit the car’s left door,” he said when contacted today, adding that the wet road condition also contributed to the accident.
Police had taken a urine and blood sample from the car driver for tests. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) Road Transportation Act 1987.
