Dengue : Selangor tops the list

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry reported a total of 51,307 dengue cases in the country throughout the year until yesterday.

Based on the data, Selangor recorded the highest number of cases compared to other states with 29,205 cases.

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur (4,704 cases), Johor (3,939), Penang (3,464), Sabah (2,247) and Perak (2,021).

At the same time, a total of 29 deaths were registered between Jan 1 and Sept 1.

These data was obtained from the ministry’s iDengue website.

It was previously reported that the Health Ministry will continue its studies on Dengvaxia vaccination which is believed to prevent the virus.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye was also quoted as saying that the aspects of safety, effectiveness and cost must be given consideration before the vaccine is registered.
