Nazri Aziz declares support for Anwar in PD via wife

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz appears to have issued a statement on the impending Port Dickson by-election, albeit in a rather unconventional manner.

On the Instagram page of @DSAIsupporters, Mohamed Nazri's wife Datin Seri Haflin Saiful posted a comment, stating it was a message from her husband who is currently vacationing with her in Paris, France.

"Greetings from DS Nazri Aziz, Padang Rengas MP who is now in Paris on a vacation, who fully supports the much awaited news that DS Anwar Ibrahim will contest in Port Dickson. God willing I will return to Malaysia to support and campaign for DS Anwar Ibrahim to ensure his victory. Not all Umno members support the statement made by MD Hasan (Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan," Haflin commented, originally in Malay.

She had commented on a screenshot of a news article that carried the headline 'Umno akan lawan mati-matian jika Anwar bertanding di PD, kata Mohamad' (Umno will go all out if Anwar contests in PD, says Mohamad).

Haflin also posted the following comment in English: "So many people in Umno just plain stupid."

Checks on Haflin's Instagram found that she is in Paris with Nazri and their son Jean Pierre Azize.

She had also shared screenshots of the comments she made on the @DSAIsupporters Instagram page, on her own Instastories.

PKR announced yesterday that Anwar will contest the Port Dickson parliamentary seat after its incumbent MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah resigned in a bid to pave the way for the incoming PKR president's return to Parliament.

Mohamad yesterday said Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) will fire up their machineries to fight Anwar in the by-election.
