Enhance Patriostism In Malaysia Day To Preserve Independence

LABUAN: The Malaysia Day Celebration must not focus merely on enjoyment, but rather on the importance of enhancing awareness and the spirit of patriotism to preserve the independence, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said.

He said as Malaysia was formed in 1963 alongside Sabah and Sarawak, the people should be grateful as the country, despite the various challenges, had remained harmoniously stable.

As such, he called on every Malaysians to love and show compassion to the country and work together to regain the glory of Malaysia as the Asian Tiger in the economic development.

“Today, we must admit and accept the fact that a New Malaysia is moving forward to regain the glory and ensure the country is on track in driving its economy.

“The time has come for us to strengthen unity, set aside the differences and help the government to be on the right and stable economic platform,” Khalid said at the state-level Malaysia Day celebration at Dataran Labuan here today.

More than 2, 000 from 119 contingents took part in the Malaysia Day parade. –BERNAMA
