Dengue: S'gor still records the highest number with over 29,000 cases this year

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 52,398 dengue cases were recorded nationwide, with Selangor reported the highest number this year.

Health Ministry reported that Selangor recorded a total of 29,769 dengue cases as of yesterday, followed by Kuala Lumpur (4,812), Johor (4,009), Penang (3,554), Sabah (2,298) and Perak (2,061).

“A total of 83 death cases were recorded between Jan 1 and Sept,” it said today.

The latest statistics, made available at website iDengue, was issued by the ministry’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC).

It was reported that the ministry would continue its research on vaccine Dengvaxia before it could be used by medical practitioners.

Its Deputy Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye said the safety, effectiveness and costs were the three aspects that would be scrutinised before it could be registered here.
