43,565 students sit for UPSR exam in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 43,565 candidates will sit for Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) tomorrow.

Sabah Education director Datuk Maimunah Suhaibul said the examination involved 986 Sekolah Kebangsaan and 85 Chinese schools, as well as 18 private schools.

She said the examination will start with Chinese and Tamil languages, while Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and Sciences will be held between Sept 24 and 27.

“To ensure everything goes smoothly, the department has appointed 6,152 officers to oversee the process.

“Besides that, the department has also prepared contingency plans and preparations to face possible disasters such as flooding and earthquake,”she said.

Maimunah’s speech was read by her department Evaluation and Examination head Bad Hamid Musli.

She added the department would also work closely with authorities such as Fire and Rescue department and the police.

“It is the same as schools in island areas, we will work with Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in terms of delivering examination papers, on-duty officers and others.”
