300 civil servants from Jasa to be absorbed into other departments, ministries, contract staff to be axed

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 300 civil servants who previously served at the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) will be absorbed into various departments and ministries, following its dissolution next month.

Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Datuk Borhan Bollah said he was waiting for confirmation from the Cabinet on the dissolution.

“I can confirm that the 300 Jasa staff will be absorbed into other departments in the civil service.

“They are permanent civil servants and not contract staff,” he said when met at the MyBest Buy FAMA @ JPA4U programme here today.

Meanwhile, he said the services of contract officers and staff serving in Jasa would be ended earlier before the dissolution.

Jasa director Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz was quoted as saying previously that 800 Jasa contract officers would lose their jobs following the dissolution.

According to him, Jasa will be dissolved completely on Oct 15.

Previously Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had announced that the National Council of Professors, Jasa, Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) as well as the Federal Village Development and Security Committee (JKKKP) would be dissolved.

Dr Mahathir said Jasa and JKKKP were dissolved because they were riddled with too many political elements.
