Tok Pa says he was called in by police over funds received by Kelantan Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno leader Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has clarified that he was called in by police to help in investigation into funds received by Kelantan Umno linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Mustapa said this in a statement following revelation by Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa who said the former was interrogated by the police allegedly for receiving a "substantial" amount of fund.

"I want clarify allegations by Annuar that I and several Kelantan Umno leaders were summoned by the police concerning funds received by the Kelantan Umno liaison body which was suspected linked with 1MDB.

"I was there to assist into the investigations in my capacity as the former Kelantan Umno liaison chief," he said in the statement tonight.

Mustapa said the police were professional ethical in carrying out their duties.

"Although I'm no longer with Umno, I will continue to extend my full cooperation if needed."
