Azeez: This is the price I have to pay for my loyalty to Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Member of Parliament for Baling, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim described his arrest by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission as his price for having stayed in the party

In a Facebook post yesterday, Azeez said he was prepared to face whatever that might be coming, including time in prison for that was the price for his loyalty to Umno.

The former Tabung Haji chairman, his elder brother and a relative were remanded over a corruption probe for four days from yesterday.

“This (the arrest) is the price I have to pay for my struggle. If I had quit from Umno last week, you may not see me like this (handcuffed and in MACC’s lockup clothes).

“Regardless of the allegations, obstacles or threats that come, I will not leave or abandon Umno’s struggle.

“InsyaAllah I will stay strong with Umno,” he said in the post uploaded by an admin quoting Azeez from the Putrajaya magistrate’s court yesterday.

At the end of the post, he sent his regards to his fellow comrades and friends.

Earlier in May, his office and residences in Baling, Kedah and Petaling Jaya were raided. Authorities found close to RM1 million in cash and valuables.

It is believed that most of the items seized were watches of various brands which were later found to be fake designer brands.

Meanwhile, his family and friends have started a solidarity campaign for his release and justice for him and the two others arrested with him.
