Sabah statutory bodies, gov't-linked agencies to be revamped

KOTA KINABALU: Statutory bodies and government-linked agencies in the state must undergo a revamp to improve their performance, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The revamp will involve, among other things, agencies and state-owned companies always taking into account public feedback on the projects they implement.

“We need to (conduct such revamps) from time to time,” Mohd Shafie said in his speech during the launch of a public exhibition on state statutory bodies and government agencies organised by the Sabah Finance Ministry here today.

His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew, who is also state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister.

On the exhibition, Mohd Shafie, who is also state Finance Minister, said allowing the public to get up close and personal with each agency and body is a good move.

“The showcase is also an opportunity for investors and traders, whether from Sabah or outside the state, to look at various potential products which could lead to collaborations,” he added.

Mohd Shafie also suggested value-adding during such events – for instance, including Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies in the programme.

“Such exhibitions involving both statutory bodies and government agencies would also provide a platform for interaction between both parties,” he added.
