Indonesian factory worker found hanging in Dalat

MUKAH: An Indonesian factory worker was found hanging at the workers’ quarters of a sago factory in Hulu Medong, Dalat.

It is learnt that the man was acting strangely for the past few days, including being quiet and a recluse, before he was found dead at 9.35am yesterday.

Dalat police chief Deputy Superintendent Roslan Leman said initial investigation did not find any criminal elements and the case was classified as sudden death.

“According to his employer and co-workers, the 25-year-old victim who hailed from West Kalimantan, Indonesia, had been depressed for the past three days.

“It’s possible that he was depressed because he was away from his family. However, we are still investigating on the actual cause of death,” he said.

He said a team from Dalat Police Station was rushed to the scene after being informed on the gruesome discovery.

“The body was found by his co-worker at the quarters after he failed to turn up for work,” he said.

The body had been sent to Mukah Hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem.
