961 participants receive B2 motorcycle licence in Dalat

DALAT: A total of 961 participants in the MyLesen B2 Driving License Assistance Programme are celebrating their newly acquired motorcycle licence, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Sarawak Women, Child Development and Community Welfare Minister Datuk Sri Fatimah Abdullah praised the overwhelming response to the programme.

She highlighted the desire among the elderly and youth to obtain licences, noting that financial constraints were a major barrier. The minister emphasised the importance of having a licence to eliminate doubts and fears, especially when encountering law enforcement.

The event, held at the Dalat Unity Stadium, saw Fatimah expressing gratitude to the Road Transport Department (RTD) for facilitating the licensing process, particularly benefiting the elderly and students who predominantly rely on motorcycles for transportation.

She pointed out the significant impact of the programme on young people's character development and its contribution to the local economy, as motorcycles are commonly used for business activities in markets and other areas.

Fatimah urged motorcyclists to adhere to traffic regulations to ensure safety on the roads.

The programme's closing ceremony also featured the distribution of 'bubur lambuk' by the Dalat N56 Service Centre in celebration of Ramadan.
