Melaka chief minister dismisses island negotiation claim as slanderous

MELAKA: The Malacca chief minister has denied any involvement in negotiations over an island, as claimed on social media.

Adly Zahari said the claim was slanderous as he had never participated in any discussions on any such joint ventures at state level.

"I have never heard of such a thing. This is all slanderous, I have nothing to do with it. I will investigate these defamatory remaks which are completely untrue,” he said.

He said this after attending a breakfast event with residents of Perkampungan Hang Tuah at Duyong, here today.

Adly, who is also state Amanah chairman, said he might lodge a police report on the accusation, if required.

“I may lodge a report. At the moment, there has been no such negotiation or discussion as claimed,” he said.

A portal reported that there were discussions revolving around an island with an alleged RM9.48 bilion transacted from Cayman Island to Labuan of Sept 4.
